The Seitz Residence, located in the historic Sugarfoot neighborhood, was a true Mid-Century dinosaur waiting to be brought back to life. Originally hand-constructed by a NASA engineer in 1960, the heirs to the original owner had maintained the residence in archival condition for over 64 years - declining multiple offers to acquire the residence for multi-family development. In 2024, the property was purchased by Dave and Wendy Zambione, with D.A. Joyce Builders, as both a flip investment and a labor of love. Dave completed the renovation almost entirely himself, by hand, and incorporated: new floors, cabinets, bathrooms, the addition of central air, raised ceilings, and a complete floor plan rework. Along the way, the Zambiones' brilliantly maintained the most distinctive elements of the mid-century residence, including: hand-laid Ocala limestone block, original brick patios and walkways, as well as the distinctive facade and roofline. Following their complete renovation, the Seitz family purchased the property and FLEMING STUDIOS was brought on board for furniture and final finish selections. Drawing inspiration from the existing materials and tones of the residence, we are currently working hand-in-hand with our clients to produce a final product that is both incorporative of the home’s historic elements while updating the design for the aesthetic eye of a modern family.
